Berggruen

The scattered water cisterns in the landscape of Bodrum inspired this circular house. The clean geometric shape is broken by a cut out, where a private outdoor space works in close relation to the indoor space - only separated by glass. Vertical and horizontal aluminium window frames in different sizes - some of which have wooden, graphite coloured shutters - break up the traditional white Mediterranean facade, creating a soft indoors illumination without direct sunlight.

The natural sandstone that covers all interior floor areas and the courtyard, underlines the dynamics between the indoor and outdoor spaces that characterizes a holiday home. The rooftop terrace is a guarantee for maximum sun time during the day, while the wooden and steel sunscreen also provides shade for early breakfasts.
